Partying responsibly

Some folks might call that an oxymoron because they find it difficult to have a real good time at a party while showing some level of responsibility. Getting into that unpredictable, spontaneous and wild – for want of a better word – side sometimes comes at the cost of not thinking responsibly.

What kind of wild things are we talking about? Well, going home with a stranger, or at least he/she was a stranger before you went to the party, is definitely ‘wild’. Ad that to the implications of ‘going home’; it’s usually way more than a drop off and a good night kiss!

Of course, there are ways make this act somewhat responsible. Let your peeps know that you’re leaving with them. Make sure your cell phone is intact. If you have the person’s cell number give it to a friend and explain the situation. Do a quick background check on the person at the party by talking with their friends. Finally, use protection if you make it to the bedroom.

Another wild party action that needs a shot of responsibility is when patrons drive themselves to the event, whether group or single, and everyone gets drunk or isn’t suitable to drive when the night is over. Certainly you’ve heard of the term ‘designated driver.’  If you’re in a group pick someone who won’t drink and if you’re driving alone DON’T drink any alcohol!

Consume energy drinks and some virgin mixed drinks for the night. If you know that you can hold some liquor without negative side effects, instead of drinking tons of alcohol during the party balance it off with some energy drinks. Decide on your reasonable alcohol intake for the night i.e. the limit that won’t make you drunk and balance with an intake of energy drinks.

Energy drinks won’t incapacitate you, so you’ll be more than well awake when driving. Plus it’ll give you that boost to break free and unleash the wild inside you.

Remember, it’s down to you to be responsible. We’ll leave you with another oxymoron: when partying be adventurously conservative.
