The day after effects
So, it’s the day after the Sunday night party that you could not miss. Work starts at 9:00 a.m. and you’re strolling in at six on Monday morning. Of course, you’re too wasted and tired to clearly understand that you’re about to hop into bed for less than three hours of sleep.
At exactly 7:30 a.m. you’re loudly awaken by your prompt alarm clock, but you decide to snooze for a couple more minutes since its summer and there’s less traffic. You continue to apply the same logic after several other alarms, by the time you’re up, it’s minutes pass 8 o’clock. You get some clothes that don’t need ironing, get your things and head out.
There was no time for breakfast and so you’re at work with a bawling stomach and no means to fill it up. You set up shop in your cubicle and at ten minutes pass nine you start to wonder why time is moving like a turtle.
Does that sound like a situation you’ve been in before? It can happen on any work night that you decide to stay out lyming or partying.
Coming in at irreverent hours on a work day isn’t a good practice, but Taboo Tutor isn’t saying it’s bad either. What you need is to find methods that work for you so you won’t under perform at work the following day. The key is to plan ahead when you know you’re having a work night excursion.
Here are some tips to fight the day after effects:
- Drink and snack more than usual throughout the day
- Drink some energy drink beverage to help keep you awake
- Keep active; always have work doing
- DO NOT put your head on the desk for even one minute
- During lunch time DO NOT take a nap… it’ll be harder for you to get back up
- If it’s allowed, keep some upbeat music playing in your earphone
- Try your best not to watch the clock, time will move much slower
- When the day is done, head home or to a bed and sleep as long as you can
The most important advice is to keep active. If you’re constantly busy with work you won’t have time to be tired or worried about the time and before you know it the day will be done. Making sure you get some sleep is the next best tip. But if you decide to go partying two work nights in a row at least make sure you have some clothes ironed and breakfast prepared!
